It is undeniable that the materials that are used in manufacturing home textile these days have to become more green-oriented in order to be able to sale with the higher profit margin.
As a large home decor or furniture companies like IKEA or Walmart are demanding more eco-friendly products when they are sourcing for the textile supplies. Appropriately, the textile company must adjust to this change accordingly to be able to catch up with the trend. And to increase their competitive advantages.
In the polyester focused textile industry (the one that we are completing and excelling in), most companies are shifting their focus towards how to make their goods greener. Most apparently, those companies are the one that put an emphasis on recycling their raw materials, polyester, in their strategic plan.
By doing so, most companies are sourcing for the plastic bottles to be fed into the recycling process. According to the figure below, textile companies are recycling the bottles by melting them and injecting the melted plastic into the very thin fibres. They will get those injected fibres ready for making the polyester yarns in the next process and eventually make the finished goods like blankets. That is the plastic bottles recycling process in the textile industry in a nutshell.
HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?
Perhaps, you may doubt that how on Earth could a hard-solid plastic bottle turns into polyester yarns. And turns into a warm and cosy blanket at the end. The answer is simple. We can recycle the plastic bottles into the soft blankets because they are made of the same material, a common variety of polymer called polyethylene terephthalate, or PET. The plastics made from crude oil for simply speaking.
This is the reason why the raw material like polyester can be fully substitutable with the plastic bottles. However, as mentioned earlier, the plastic bottles need to be put into the recycling process before it becomes the usable polyester yarn for manufacturing.
STILL FASHIONABLE YET ECO
Did you know that the recycled polyester can make the fancy or fashionable products like a normal polyester does? Of course, it can! The recycled polyester functionality in the production process is indifference to the non-recycled one.
Additionally, it’s not the raw material that defies the products ability to sell, but the creativity that being put into the design of the products. When creativity meets eco-friendliness, the products will shine and differentiate from others.
