Plastic pollution is still one of the world’s most concerning environmental issues. This is because eliminating plastic wastes and plastic decomposition takes time, lots of time, and there are still no pollution elimination methods that do not impose any harmful effect on the environment. The best solution, therefore, is to repurpose plastic wastes by recycling.
We have laid the foundation of the certified recycling process by establishing a recycled polyester fibre factory called Thai Polyester (TPC) that conform to the ISO 9001:2015 and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. This allows us to pursue our sustainable milestone by leveraging the benefit of polyester for being recyclable.
We encourage environmentally conscious production practices to bolster our sustainability commitment. Our practices include reducing discharge chemicals, reducing production's energy consumption, encouraging efficient water management and odour formation treatment.
We continue to raise the consciousness and implement the best sustainable practices among our employees to encourage them to have a higher environmentally centric mindset. We aim to boost the understanding of the underlying value among our employees in producing green recycled home textiles for our clients.
The aforementioned practices include, but are not limited to, reducing the use of plastic bottles, reducing the use of paper, sorting trash for better trash management, switching off electronics while not in use.
We drive our sustainability concept to the hand of the consumer by leveraging the benefit of polyester for being recyclable. We offer either 100% recycled polyester or partially recycled polyester products.
Our raw material for our recycling process to produce our quality home textiles is rPET polyester, recycled from PET-1 bottles.
Apart from being recyclable, the PET-1 bottles, based on polyethylene terephthalate, are a type of plastic bottle that contains no dioxin, an organic pollutant in drinking water bottles that can cause cancer.
Given the characteristic mentioned above, it makes PET-1 bottles to be able to safely recycled with an unlimited amount of time and can transform into various shapes and products.
We procure PET-1 bottles which come in the form of bales from the suppliers that provide the used PET-1 bottles. We sort and thoroughly sterilise those bottles before moving them into our recycling process for producing the recycled home textiles.
After that, the PET-1 bottles will be shredded into smaller fragments called flakes and smelted with high heat. Then, the smelted plastics are extruded to become polyester fibre and spun into yarn. Next, the yarn will be weaved into quality, long-lasting and harmless fabrics.
Our sustainability effort takes a step further by bringing back the recycled polyester blankets that people are no longer need or are not in usable condition into the recycling process once again.
This is to turn them into plastic chips for the future production of recycled blankets to mitigate the further waste issue.
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) is the globally recognised standard for the textile industry that verify the recycled content in our products.
The standard also assures that our products are being processed even more sustainably, given the strict social and environmental requirements. We will need to meet the requirements to ensure accurate good working conditions and minimised environmental impacts.
Having this standard certified, we assure our clients about the safety of our recycled products.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is the standardised textile safety certification from the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile Ecology. It adopts the scientific testing of the contamination in textile products, production process assessment, and product quality assurance.
Whenever consumers see the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 badge labelled on our products, they can be certain that the products they will buy are safe and contain no harmful chemicals.
BSCI, Business Social Compliance Initiative, is the social auditing report and methodology that Fashion Hometex implements with our production practices.
To support the continuous improvement of the social performance within the supply chain, BSCI allows us to improve visibility over our production process to trade with purpose, and to put sustainable trade at the heart of our business.
