Get rid of Sleepiness at work!! After the meal

Get rid of Sleepiness at work!! After the meal.

Why do we feel sleepy after eating a meal? Let’s wrap your brain around it.

Have you ever feel like wanna sleep at your workplace after having lunch? Well…I have it plenty of times. Sleepiness after eating is an automatic response of the human body to chemical changes during the process of digestion. This is normal and it happens to everybody. However, if sleepiness occurs and obstructs your function every time, it could become a concern.
Sleepiness after lunch can also hinder your performance from working effectively in the afternoon.

Causes of sleepiness after having a meal

Sleepiness always occurs, when your stomach’s full. Sleepiness after the meal is caused by many factors, such as the types of foods you consume, especially those contain sugar and carbohydrates, messy sleeping habits, drowsiness from overeating, health condition. However, the main reason is due to your digestive process.

To avoid sleepiness after having lunch, we recommend the following practices;

1. Never skip your breakfast
We always heard people talk about how important of eating breakfast to both bodies and mind.
By skipping breakfast, you will be extremely hungry and more likely to have a larger portion for lunch. The brain will enjoin you to gain more calories and
you will eventually become more drowsy from overeating.

2. Eat smaller meals throughout the day.
For instance, balancing your food intake with mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks during a day. In this context, we suggest eating a cup of yogurt, a piece of banana & apple throughout the day to keep your intake balanced. So you don’t blast your hungriness on any of each meal of the day especially for lunch.

3. Go outside and take some fresh air
Instead of keeping the drowsiness inside you, you could try to do the outdoor walking, do some stretching and take some fresh air.
Stretching can boost your muscle energy. It also optimises oxygen and blood circulation around the body and oxygenation to the brain.

4. Take a nap!!
This is the easiest way to get rid of sleepiness throughout the day if you are sleepy to death.
I know you are feeling guilty for taking a nap at work in the afternoon. Don’t be. It’s good for you.
The reason we take a nap in the daytime is to catch up on lost sleep at night.
